Trees of the West
View
this Collection
They may have been only dead trees littering the vast canyons of the West but they stopped me cold, took my breath away, chilled me to stillness and now they consume the landscape of my memory. They will not let me go. It is not possible to be more thankful for being alive.

The Tennessee River Gorge
View
this Collection
All of the images in the Tennessee River Gorge collection were photographed within an hour while chasing the last light of a day beset with constant rain and storms. An avid sky watcher, I saw a break in the clouds late in the day and trusted that the conditions on the Tennessee River would be magnificent. In fact, what I found was church. Over and over again, as I chased down river to stay ahead of a barge tow, the glassy river surface reflected what I have treasured all of my life - river, sky, thankfulness for the day. And deep gratefulness for being a photographer.

Eclectic Work

this Collection
This collection includes odd shots, random opportunities,
chasing light and otherwise skewed views
of where I find myself, often trespassing,
always looking over my shoulder
to see what I've missed.

Tennessee River Gorge in Black & White
View
this Collection
My soul filled shore to shore
as this river, smooth as glass,
reflected passion at my feet.
There are clouds in my river!
Clouds torn to shreds, moving fast,
lifting and racing overhead as I
watch them forming in the gorge...

China 2009: Faces and Places
View
this Collection
This collection of photographs displays a very brief and incomplete record of my recent travels to Southwest China. There are no shots of the Great Wall, no well worn tourist scenes. My camera seeks the personal, the people and how they live, glimpses of warmth and the human connection. I hope these images reveal to you what I discovered in gratitude. `vw
